Nanjing, China. My digital work has been exhibited simultaneously in the London biennale and the nanjing
Museum and has won an honorary award (the memory project of the Yangtze river bridge — an honorary award -in London biennale&Jiangsu Art Museum). My interactive work has been cooperated with physics laboratories,
dance performers and others across the border. And is co-curator of Logic in the Black Box. I am very interested in
human-computer interaction design.

During my undergraduate and graduate years, my major research interests are how the convergence of computers,
mobile phones and the Internet has provided a technology-induced social and economic restructuring for this
digital age, as well as a major impact on our way of life. That’s what I want to do next.
Therefore, I hope to introduce Emanuel Gollob, an Interaction device designer who has inspired me a lot, to express
my interest and direction in the MA Interaction Design course.
This year，he designed a device called Doing Nothing with AI 1.0 (pictures below). It explores the inactivity that is
not widely accepted and is associated with wasting time in times of constant busyness, technological overload, and
permanent acceptance of the state of the social group with information. People always seem to be in a hurry,
stuffed with calendars, seeking distraction and subjective control as well as visual stimuli, and can’t stand even brief
periods of inactivity.
His collective anxiety about AI got me thinking. Nowadays, we are all living in the landscape of screens — mobile
phones, TELEVISIONS, computers and other numerous “screens” wrap up our audiovisual and cognitive channels,
just like the large screens of advertisements in our daily life, constantly broadcasting the next unknown and illogical
relationship. Are these messages, intentional or unintentional, giving instructions to the screen, or are the screens
directing our behavior? How does AI analyze our behavior path and then discipline our actions? In the following
study, I hope to explore the influence of the “commander behind the screen” on society, environment, groups and
individuals, trigger the contradiction between human behavior planned by the virtual world and people’s autonomy
through human-computer interaction, and call for people to regain more autonomy.
The goal of MA Interaction Design course is to cultivate students’ critical ability and creative ability, and to combine
new ideas and theories to interact, which is exactly the goal of my deep learning and research.
In the form of design, I want to try to break the boundary of the screen and realize it in a way of wearable
interaction and multi-media interaction. For example, in Doing Nothing with AI 1.0, the designer used Arduino to
sense people’s brain waves and interact with the device. And I was involved in bodyspaceIII parametric garment
design workshop (pictured), we will be around the body material and non-material is to link up to form a new way
of spatial organization, and then use the arduino to control the extension of parameterized device and interact with
the people, to expand in the form of parametric design. Unfortunately, in two weeks, we didn’t know how to
control model interaction with Arduino.
how you intend to go about producing the project and the methodology
Therefore, in the following study, I want to dig more and have a deeper understanding of how to control images and
mechanical movements with Arduino and concentrate on learning how to use physical computing and vice versa to
find appropriate forms of interaction for the topics I focus on. On the other hand, I want to continue to investigate
the discipline of screen information on human behavior and collect the behaviors of the masses through planning an
activity, interviewing and other ways. I want to analyze the psychology behind the social group controlled by the
screen from different perspectives, the influence of the digital social era on individuals, and the reaction of individual
emotional expression on the whole. These are all topics That I want to explore deeply in my graduate study. At the
same time, I also hope to get guidance from teachers of LDC (Interaction Design Communication) in terms of research
and critical thinking methods, so as to better improve my innovation ability and critical thinking ability.
